ISLAMABAD: Only 17% of Pakistanis watched the Under-19 cricket final between Pakistan and India, according to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan. The survey revealed that a significant majority of 76% did not watch the match, highlighting limited engagement with youth-level cricket matches.
According to Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the survey involved a nationally representative sample of adult Pakistanis who were asked if they had watched the Under-19 cricket final where Pakistan emerged victorious over India. The findings showed that just 17% of respondents answered affirmatively, while a notable 76% reported they did not watch the match. An additional 7% either did not know or chose not to respond.
The survey results underscore that despite cricket’s popularity in Pakistan, the interest in youth-level competitions, even those featuring traditional rivals like India, remains limited. This trend suggests a stronger public engagement with senior-level or high-profile international matches compared to junior competitions.
The study was conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, with a sample size of 787 respondents drawn from both urban and rural areas across the four provinces of Pakistan. The survey was conducted between January 15 and February 3, 2026, using telephonic surveys. The margin of error is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level.
