IGP Islamabad Reviews Security and Counterterrorism Measures

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi chaired several meetings to assess the security situation, counterterrorism initiatives, and police station development projects in the capital city. The meetings focused on enhancing public service delivery and included senior officers such as DIG Headquarters Malik Jameel Zafar, SSP CTD Saud Khan, and Director Special Initiatives Shams-ul-Haq Durrani.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the IGP sought performance reports from relevant officers and discussed opportunities for improvement across various departments. He emphasized that protecting citizens’ lives and property should be a top priority and stressed the importance of making the policing system more effective, transparent, and citizen-friendly. The use of technology and strategies aligned with modern requirements were highlighted as essential for crime prevention and ensuring a prompt response.

In a separate meeting with the Accounts Officer and Admin Officer, the IGP reviewed the performance, administrative matters, and financial discipline of different branches of the Central Police Office. Clear instructions were given to enhance institutional performance, ensure transparency, and improve administrative efficiency.

The IGP also conducted a Khuli Kachehri under the “Open Door Policy,” where he addressed the concerns of citizens and police officers, providing immediate directions for resolution. He reiterated that resolving citizens’ issues on merit and without delay remains a top priority and encouraged citizens to attend public forums for police-related issues. The IGP directed officers to address complaints within the stipulated time frame and submit reports to the Central Police Office. Various initiatives are being taken by Islamabad Police to facilitate the public, with daily open forums playing a crucial role in resolving issues promptly.
