Islamabad: Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, marked Eid-ul-Adha by commemorating the sacrifices of police martyrs alongside their families. He offered Eid prayers with fellow officers at the Police Lines Headquarters and participated in special prayers for the security of the nation and the elevation of martyrs’ ranks.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, IGP Rizvi met with police officers, offering greetings and visiting the Martyrs’ Monument to lay flowers and pay respects. He emphasized the importance of remembering those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s peace, stating that they are a proud asset to the Islamabad Police.
A grand meal was organized at the Police Lines Headquarters for the families of martyrs and officers, where IGP Rizvi stated, “Every officer of mine is my family.” He also visited the homes of martyrs’ families, distributing gifts and assuring them of his support for any issues they might face.
On Eid-ul-Adha, IGP Rizvi toured the district, meeting officers on duty and distributing Eid gifts. He expressed appreciation for their dedication, noting the peaceful celebration in the city was due to their sacrifices. He praised the officers, stating, “I am proud of every officer in my force.”
Under his directives, strict security measures were implemented in Islamabad during Eid, with over 7,000 police officers deployed and more than 400 traffic officers ensuring smooth traffic flow. Female officers were assigned to secure public parks, which were open only to families, and Quick Response Teams patrolled the city.
The Islamabad Police also conducted a crackdown on one-wheeling and public disturbances, monitoring public places with Safe City cameras and drones. Thanks to these efforts, no untoward incidents were reported in the city.
