IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Leads Key Police Meeting on Official Engagements

Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, chaired a significant meeting at the Central Police Office on a busy Sunday, focusing on various critical aspects of police operations. The meeting, attended by high-ranking police officials including the Additional IG Investigation and officers from various districts, emphasized enhancing police capabilities and addressing public safety issues.

According to Punjab Police, the meeting reviewed several key initiatives such as Police Khidmat Centers, Police Women Council, and the Special Initiative Police Station. The repatriation of illegal foreign nationals was also discussed. Dr. Usman Anwar directed an increase in the capacity of the Special Investigation Unit (SSOIU) staff, particularly for handling sexual crimes, and mandated the training of all 115 notified officers of SSOIU units across Punjab.

Emphasizing the importance of tackling gender crimes, IG Punjab ordered immediate measures for the prevention and effective investigation of such offenses. He highlighted the role of police in supporting and guiding vulnerable groups like transgenders, children, women, and the elderly through Tahaffuz centers. Dr. Anwar also stressed the timely transfer of police stations to the Special Initiative Police Station protocol, acknowledging the efforts of Rawalpindi and Faisalabad in the evacuation of illegal foreign nationals.

Further, Dr. Anwar criticized delays in registering FIRs on E-tag applications and urged supervisory officers to closely monitor the redressal and feedback mechanism for applications sent from the RPO and DPOs 1787 Complaint Center. He also announced that the process for driving licensing at police service centers is now online, and police are providing facilities at the front desks of police stations.

Finally, IG Punjab directed RPOs and DPOs to hold online open courts to address citizens’ issues, ensuring greater accessibility and responsiveness from the police force. The meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials, including the Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Additional IG Punjab, Additional IG IAB, DIG Operations Punjab, AIG Gender Crime, and AIG Admin.
