Dhaka: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, in collaboration with 20 Pakistani universities, has launched a series of education expos across Bangladesh to showcase higher education opportunities available under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor. The initiative aims to promote academic exchange and strengthen institutional ties between the two countries.
According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the first expo in the series was inaugurated in Dhaka, with additional exhibitions planned in Barishal, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Rangpur over the next 10 days. The expos are designed to enhance research collaboration and academic partnerships, in addition to offering scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students.
Bangladesh’s Minister for Education, Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon, inaugurated the Dhaka event, emphasizing the importance of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor in fostering educational collaboration. He encouraged Bangladeshi students to apply for the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships, which present significant opportunities for academic advancement.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mr. Imran Haider, highlighted the strengths of Pakistan’s higher education system, particularly in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences. He expressed hope that the series of exhibitions would facilitate greater collaboration between the two nations.
Ms. Aayesha Ikram, Director General of Scholarships at HEC, provided an overview of the academic opportunities available to Bangladeshi students and reaffirmed HEC’s commitment to educational cooperation through scholarships and institutional collaborations.
The Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, initiated in 2025, includes the provision of 500 fully-funded scholarships for Bangladeshi students to study at leading Pakistani universities. The initiative also aims to train Bangladeshi civil servants. The first batch of 74 students is already pursuing various disciplines in Pakistan, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral educational ties.
