ISLAMABAD: In an effort to decrease reliance on costly electricity, the government is actively promoting solar energy and storage solutions. Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, the Minister for Power, highlighted the administration’s commitment to implementing reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency in the power sector through privatization.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Leghari, during an interview with a private television channel, shared that substantial advancements have been made in areas such as revising and renegotiating agreements with Independent Power Producers and reducing electricity tariffs for industrial users. The government has been focusing on solar power initiatives, including the adoption of energy storage batteries, to lessen the dependency on expensive electricity during peak hours.
The minister’s remarks underscore the government’s strategy to transition towards more sustainable energy solutions while addressing issues of cost and efficiency within the sector.
