Islamabad: Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Industry, has called for a strategic shift in Pakistan’s agricultural export strategy, moving away from raw commodities towards high-value, processed agro-food products. This call comes with an emphasis on enhancing processing, packaging, and cold-chain systems, alongside securing international certifications.

According to Press Information Department, Mr. Afzal Khan addressed the third session of the Strategic Dialogue Series, titled “Unlocking Pakistan’s High-Value Export Potential,” organized by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. He stressed the importance of value addition, quality improvement, and diversification into new markets to fully realize Pakistan’s agricultural export potential.

Mr. Afzal Khan highlighted the necessity of upgrading food-processing facilities, modernizing packaging, and enhancing cold-chain infrastructure to improve the quality and shelf life of Pakistani agro-food products. He also called for a collaborative effort among government bodies and the private sector to create a competitive and resilient agro-food export sector.

The Coordinator reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting exporters, addressing supply-chain issues, and establishing Pakistan as a dependable supplier of high-quality agricultural products in global markets.
