Government Committed to Supporting ECP for Smooth Conduct of Polls: Info Minister


Islamabad, Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, has reaffirmed the caretaker government’s commitment to supporting the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections. He emphasized that the caretaker government plays a pivotal role in maintaining stability and upholding the democratic process as a bridge between two elected governments.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Speaking on a PTV program titled “Vote Pakistan,” Solangi pointed out that Article 218(3) of the Constitution mandates the caretaker government to provide financial, administrative, and security support to the ECP to facilitate elections. He encouraged every citizen to exercise their voting rights their conscience.



Solangi also highlighted a recent Supreme Court verdict related to intra-party elections, stating that it sets a precedent for political parties to promote democracy within their ranks. He noted that while the Election Commission didn’t initially take notice of the intra-party elections of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a complaint was eventually submitted.



The Information Minister reiterated his commitment to ensuring equal media coverage for all political parties, emphasizing that institutions like Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan operate with taxpayers’ money and should serve the public interest. Solangi concluded by highlighting the government’s accomplishments in improving political and economic conditions over the past five months, expressing optimism about the nation’s future prospects.
