Islamabad: H.E. Ms. Ina Lepel, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan, met with the Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to extend congratulations on Pakistan’s recent sovereign credit rating upgrade by Moody’s. The ambassador acknowledged the progress made by Pakistan in the economic sector despite regional challenges and emphasized that the improved rating reflects increased confidence in the country’s economic outlook and reform efforts.

According to Press Information Department, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb outlined Pakistan’s macroeconomic advancements, highlighting enhanced foreign exchange reserves and efforts to uphold fiscal discipline. He discussed the government’s focus on sustaining economic stability, advancing structural reforms, and fostering a welcoming investment climate.

Discussions included the operations of German multinational companies in Pakistan and potential enhancements to the business environment. The Finance Minister stressed the significance of policy stability, improved business facilitation, and institutional reforms to boost economic engagement.

The minister also described the ongoing digitalization efforts within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), aimed at improving tax administration, transparency, and efficiency. He noted that increased digitalization would simplify processes and foster a more efficient environment for international businesses in Pakistan.

Ms. Lepel expressed appreciation for the government’s stabilization and reform efforts, reaffirming Germany’s interest in bolstering economic and business relations with Pakistan. She invited Senator Aurangzeb to the 19th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in Seoul, slated for later this year, to further dialogue and economic relations between Europe and the Indo-Pacific.

The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to deepening Pakistan-Germany economic cooperation and strengthening business ties.
