Islamabad: Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has mandated the acceleration of the rightsizing process for federal government departments, aiming at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service delivery.

According to Radio Pakistan, the directive was issued during a meeting of the Sub-Committee on Rightsizing of the Federal Government, chaired by Aurangzeb in Islamabad. The meeting assessed progress across all eight phases of the initiative. The Finance Minister emphasized the necessity for recurring savings to be clearly quantified and incorporated into the budget and medium-term fiscal framework. He highlighted that the success of rightsizing should be measured not only by reductions in the size of the government but also by improvements in productivity, resource utilization, and public service delivery.

Aurangzeb instructed that the process be closely monitored to ensure timely execution and sustainable enhancements in both government efficiency and fiscal management. Federal Minister for Climate Change and Convener of the Sub-Committee, Senator Dr. Musadik Malik, advocated for the development of a focused, time-bound action plan with specified responsibilities to guarantee the implementation of the endorsed recommendations.
