Finance Minister Highlights Commitment to Structural Reforms and Economic Cooperation with US

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, emphasized the government’s dedication to implementing structural reforms, promoting export-led growth, and fortifying institutional frameworks during a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires to Pakistan, Natalie Baker. The discussions aimed at enhancing Pakistan-US economic relations and exploring avenues for bilateral economic cooperation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister briefed Baker on his recent visit to Washington, where he engaged with senior US economic institutions to discuss opportunities for strengthening financial cooperation, investment, and financing for commercially viable projects in Pakistan. The conversation also touched on progress in discussions with the US Trade Representative regarding the Pakistan-US reciprocal trade framework, focusing on market access, export opportunities, and bilateral trade.

In their dialogue, both parties explored investment prospects in sectors such as ports and logistics, energy, telecommunications, digital technology, and artificial intelligence. The Finance Minister underscored government efforts to boost the business environment, attract private-sector investment, enhance foreign exchange reserves, and promote export-led growth. Baker acknowledged Pakistan’s endeavors to retain economic stability amidst regional challenges and rising energy prices, reaffirming US support for Pakistan’s reform agenda and increased participation of US firms in crucial sectors.
