Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has passed a resolution unanimously praising the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their roles in advancing Pakistan’s global standing and safeguarding national interests. According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution was adopted during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sharif.

The cabinet members highlighted the Joint Defence Agreement signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, describing it as a significant diplomatic and defense achievement that strengthens unity among the Muslim Ummah. The meeting also saw the approval of the National Housing Policy 2026 and its implementation plan. The policy, developed with input from national and international experts, aims to provide sustainable and quality housing for all citizens.

The cabinet emphasized the importance of adhering to zoning laws in housing projects and prioritizing vertical housing for efficient land use. It further directed the inclusion of energy efficiency codes in the National Housing Policy to promote eco-friendly standards. Updates on the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Scheme were also provided, noting that loans totaling 220 billion rupees have been sanctioned, with over 32 billion rupees disbursed to successful applicants.

Additionally, the cabinet approved the withdrawal of the notice to terminate the bilateral investment treaty with Sweden, originally signed in 1981. The Pakistan Information Security Framework 2026 was also endorsed as a key document for cybersecurity, with instructions for its implementation within the specified timeframe.

The cabinet ratified decisions from the Cabinet Committee on Energy, endorsing amendments to the Pakistan Oil Refining Policy 2023 for refinery upgrades. Further ratifications were made on decisions from the Economic Coordination Committee meetings held last month and earlier this month.
