Federal Minister Reviews Sugar Prices Ahead of Ramadan, Sets Rate at Rs 130 per Kg

Lahore: A meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board, chaired by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, took place in Lahore to determine sugar prices for Ramadan. The session aimed to ensure sugar availability at reasonable rates during the holy month.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the minister announced that sugar would be sold at Rs 130 per kilogram at stalls organized by sugar mills nationwide. These stalls will offer sugar in small packages of 1-2 kg, with a purchasing limit of up to 5 kg per national identity card.

The stalls will be operational three days before Ramadan begins and will continue until the 27th of the month, guaranteeing adequate supply for consumers. Rana Tanveer Hussain stressed the importance of maintaining a smooth supply chain and directed authorities to manage the stalls efficiently.

He urged the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, district administrations, and the cane commissioner to cooperate closely to avoid mismanagement and long queues, ensuring a hassle-free experience for consumers. The minister recommended increasing the number of stalls and setting them up at municipal committee levels across districts to better serve the public.

Hussain assured that he, along with the chief secretaries, would personally oversee the entire process to ensure its smooth execution and success.
