Islamabad: Pakistan has dismissed assertions made by India regarding the status of the Jammu and Kashmir region, labeling them as baseless and contrary to internationally accepted facts. The official response emphasizes the need for adherence to United Nations Security Council resolutions and calls for a plebiscite to determine the future of the disputed territory.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the spokesperson, Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains one of the longest-standing unresolved issues on the United Nations Security Council’s agenda. The spokesperson highlighted that the UN resolutions require the final resolution of the territory to align with the will of the Kashmiri people through a fair and impartial plebiscite under UN supervision.

The statement also underscores that the official United Nations maps continue to represent Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed region. Pakistan criticized India’s unilateral actions and claims of sovereignty, asserting that they do not alter the legal status of the territory as recognized internationally.

Pakistan has called on the international community to intervene and urge India to cease alleged human rights violations in the region. The statement emphasizes the importance of fulfilling commitments towards allowing self-determination for the Kashmiri people, in accordance with relevant UNSC resolutions.
