Karachi: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the swift completion of National Highway Authority (NHA) projects in Sindh, emphasizing that delays will no longer be tolerated. During a high-level review meeting at the NHA Regional Office in Karachi, the minister focused on removing administrative hurdles and reviewing security concerns to ensure smooth operations. The meeting included a comprehensive review of major highways such as N-120, N-110, N-5, N-55, and the M-6 Motorway. Key decisions were made to repair and expand bridges and to reassess the toll tax collection system for better resource management.
According to the Press Information Department, Abdul Aleem Khan stated that there will be no compromise on construction quality and transparency. He approved the formation of special teams to address highway-related issues in Sindh and directed that all future toll plazas in the province follow a uniform design. The minister announced special incentives for NHA employees who meet annual revenue targets and project milestones. He also instructed the General Manager to submit weekly reports prioritizing rehabilitation work and eliminating unnecessary expenditures. The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing high-quality travel facilities and stressed the need to modernize procurement processes and contract structuring for the M-6 Motorway. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that accountability and performance are essential benchmarks for the NHA.
