Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal Urges Pakistani Diaspora for Partnership in Economic and Healthcare Transformation


Orlando, Florida (USA): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, during his visit to the United States, engaged with the Pakistani-American community, urging them to play an active role in Pakistan’s development. His participation at the 49th Annual Convention of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) in Orlando was a key highlight of his visit, where he called for collaborative efforts in healthcare, investment, and economic transformation.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Iqbal emphasized the government’s strategic focus on human capital development through the URAAN Pakistan initiative, highlighting sectors such as education, healthcare, and technology. He proposed a Telemedicine Backup model to connect US-based medical specialists with junior doctors in Pakistan, aiming to enhance healthcare access and quality. Additionally, he encouraged the use of Artificial Intelligence and digital health platforms to advance healthcare solutions in Pakistan.



During the convention, the Minister addressed critical health challenges in Pakistan, such as Hepatitis C and diabetes, and discussed ongoing efforts like the establishment of the National Population Council and upcoming nationwide health campaigns. He also spoke on the importance of maintaining responsible democratic discourse to protect Pakistan’s international reputation.



The Minister reflected on previous government achievements and the current coalition’s measures to stabilize the economy, inviting the Pakistani American business community to support Pakistan’s economic revival through investments and partnerships. He highlighted the potential of sectors like artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and technology in driving sustainable growth.



In his concluding remarks, Ahsan Iqbal reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing the rule of law, ensuring policy continuity, and fostering partnerships with overseas Pakistanis, whom he described as a strategic asset in realizing the vision of a prosperous and competitive Pakistan.
