New Delhi, September 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): In what appears to be how low-ranking Indian army men are eliminated by their officers over some disagreement, Rifleman Amit Kumar’s father has written a letter to the Army Chief, General Manoj Pande, seeking a clarification from him over the circumstances leading to the death of their son.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in the letter, the father of deceased Amit Kumar, a resident of Akhnoor, Jammu, stated that his son was posted in 17 JAK LI and was recently attached with 33 Corps as a Sahayak of a senior Army officer.
The letter further mentioned that his son was repeatedly harassed at the house of the army officer while his posting in West Bengal and on one fateful day when he refused to do some personal work of the officer, he was recalled back to his parent unit on September 14, 2023.
“On his way back, he was found dead in a lodge,” writes Rattan Singh, the father of the deceased soldier, while raising doubts over the mysterious death over his son.
“In order to unravel the mystery over the death of his son, he has accordingly written a letter to COAS, seeking a probe into the mysterious death of his son by Central Bureaue of Investigation,” the father demanded.
Pertinently, Rifleman Amit Singh, a resident of Akhnoor, Jammu, was posted in West Bengal and was found dead at a private hotel in north Bengal near Siliguri on Sep 15 with preliminary inquiry by police suggesting suicide.
It is worth mentioning here that family members of the Indian soldier last week staged a protest in Akhnoor area of Jammu against the purported murder of their kin. They blocked the main road near their village for over 4 hours in support of their demand for an impartial inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death. They accused the commanding officer and his wife of the murder.
