Eight Nations Condemn Violence by Settlers in Occupied West Bank

Islamabad: Eight Arab and Islamic nations, including Pakistan, have issued a strong condemnation of escalating violence by settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. This joint denunciation comes amid recent attacks on important religious sites, intensifying tensions in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have released a unified statement condemning the attacks on the Grand Mosque in Jiljilya and the Al-Farouq Mosque in Mazar’a al-Nubani, north of Ramallah. They emphasized that these acts are a blatant violation of the sanctity of religious sites and contravene international laws and United Nations resolutions.

The ministers expressed their firm rejection of the settlers’ actions and criticized the ongoing illegal measures by Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. They assert that such actions contribute to instability and violence, undermining efforts for peace, and place the responsibility squarely on Israel as the occupying power.

In their statement, the ministers called upon the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations by pressuring Israel to cease its escalation in the West Bank, end illegal activities, and ensure accountability for those responsible for these acts of violence. They reiterated the need to prevent impunity for such crimes.

The Foreign Ministers also reaffirmed their steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people, supporting their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. Furthermore, they pledged support for efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a lasting peace based on a two-state solution, in line with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
