Islamabad, The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has made a strategic decision to guarantee uninterrupted gas supply to the fertilizer industry, ensuring adequate urea production for the upcoming Rabi cropping season.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,During the ECC meeting led by the Finance Minister, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, a proposal from the Ministry of Energy received approval, as reported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This move is aimed at addressing the needs for urea fertilizer for the Rabi Season of 2023-24. Additionally, the Committee agreed to amendments in PCT codes under the Import Policy Order (IPO) 2022 and Export Policy Order (EPO) 2022.
The decision highlights the ECC’s role in preemptively managing resources to meet agricultural demands, reflecting the government’s proactive approach in ensuring food security and supporting the agriculture sector, which is a cornerstone of the economy.
