Devender Rana finally quits NC, could join BJP

Jammu, October 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):Devender Rana, the longest-serving provincial president of the National Conference in Jammu, resigned from the party’s primary membership. Rana, the younger brother of senior BJP leader, Jitendra Singh, has been with the party for 26 years and was counted among the most influential leaders of NC. His departure from the party is seen here as a jolt to the National Conference.

Despite persuasion during the last many days by Farooq Abdullah and some other NC leaders, Rana seemed determined to leave NC which he claims has been done to protect the interests of the people living in the Jammu region. His resignation comes amid speculations that that Rana, a businessman-turned-politician, is planning to switch over to the BJP. National Conference leadership on Sunday said they have accepted the resignation of Devinder Singh Rana and Surjit Singh Slathia.
