ISLAMABAD: In a meeting held at his residence in the Ministers’ Enclave, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan met with the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the SSP Security Islamabad, and other senior officials of the CDA to discuss ongoing concerns related to the Parliament Lodges. The discussions primarily revolved around security, sanitation, and drainage issues affecting the lodges.
According to the Senate of Pakistan, the Deputy Chairman brought forth the concerns expressed by Members of the Senate regarding the current security arrangements. He directed that these measures be enhanced in line with modern standards to ensure the safety of the members. A comprehensive security audit was ordered, with instructions for immediate corrective actions and the presentation of a detailed security plan.
The Deputy Chairman also addressed the sanitation and drainage problems, expressing serious concern over their condition. He instructed the Chairman of the CDA to urgently improve cleanliness and resolve the drainage issues that have been a longstanding problem. Specific attention was drawn to the complaints from women senators about these issues.
In addition to these matters, the Deputy Chairman highlighted the concerns of Senate Members about operations against informal settlements in Islamabad. He urged that such operations be conducted transparently and fairly, with elected representatives being involved in the decision-making process.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to prioritize the resolution of issues at Parliament Lodges, ensuring a secure and dignified living environment for the Members of the Senate. The Deputy Chairman emphasized the need for coordinated efforts by CDA and relevant authorities to improve civic amenities and required regular progress reports to be submitted to the Senate Secretariat.
