Bhopal, August 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): A Dalit sarpanch in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh has said that he was not invited to hoist the flag on the Indian Independence Day, the 15th August, in their village school and maintained that the principal made casteist remarks against him. Ahirwar, sarpanch of Bhagwantpur village, said that he was not invited by the principal of the local school to hoist the flag on Indian Independence Day. She also made casteist remarks against me, he said.
He said that according to the Panchayati Raj Act, the sarpanch is authorised to hoist the flag in the school. An official said a probe has been ordered to look into sarpanch Barelal Ahirwar’s allegations of casteist comments.
Meanwhile, former Indian minister and Congress leader Arun Yadav has sought a reply from the state chief minister over Ahirwar’s allegations.
