Cold and Dry Weather Expected Across Pakistan, Smog/Fog in Plains

Islamabad, 03 Dec 2023: The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad has predicted predominantly cold and dry weather across most parts of Pakistan in the coming days. However, smog and fog are likely in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the current synoptic situation shows continental air prevailing over most parts of the country, with a shallow trough present over the northern regions. On Sunday, the forecast anticipates mainly cold and dry conditions nationwide, with partly cloudy skies in the upper parts of the country. The plain areas are expected to experience smog and fog.

The outlook for Monday remains similar, with cold and dry weather predicted in most regions. The smog and fog conditions are likely to continue in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh, particularly during the morning and night.

The past 24 hours have seen cold and dry weather prevail across most of Pakistan, with partly cloudy and cold conditions in the upper parts of the country. The recorded lowest minimum temperatures were Leh at -08°C, Kalam at -04°C, Skardu at -03°C, Kalat and Gupis at -02°C, and Astore and Hunza at -01°C.
