KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Ultimi Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, a modern facility aimed at enhancing diagnostic services within the province. According to Chief Minister Sindh, during the ceremony held at a local hotel, Shah emphasized the importance of modern diagnostic systems for improving healthcare outcomes and highlighted the necessity of accurate and timely test results for effective treatment and patient care.
The inauguration event was attended by notable figures including Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Ultimi Lab CEO Dr. Fazalullah Pechuho, and Secretary Health Tahir Sangi. The chief minister reiterated the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade healthcare services and underscored the essential role of the private sector in complementing public health initiatives.
Murad Ali Shah described the new laboratory as a significant addition to the province’s healthcare infrastructure, equipped with advanced technology to provide quality and affordable diagnostic services. He affirmed his government’s commitment to continued investment and reform in the health sector, citing progress in tertiary healthcare and the establishment of Sindh Child Health Institutes to improve child healthcare.
The chief minister also mentioned collaborative efforts with the ChildLife Foundation at major institutions such as Jinnah Hospital and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) to bolster healthcare services. Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho emphasized the crucial role of diagnostic laboratories in initiating proper patient treatment and addressed the challenge of affordability. She called for the establishment of modern labs offering affordable tests to ensure accessibility for all patients.
Ultimi Lab CEO Dr. Fazalullah Pechuho expressed his aspiration for the facility to serve as a reliable and accessible diagnostic center for the people of Sindh, noting that it was established post-retirement to provide affordable medical testing services.
