Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue convened a pre-budget consultative session at Parliament House under Senator Saleem Mandiwalla’s chairmanship, focusing on economic priorities for the fiscal year 2026-27. This session aimed to incorporate stakeholder input into the budget’s formulation process.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the chairman stressed the importance of engaging stakeholders to address anomalies and challenges before the finalization of the federal budget. This initiative, conducted annually, seeks to bridge the gap between government bodies, lawmakers, and the business community, promoting trade and maximizing national revenue.
The meeting included senators, senior Finance Ministry officials, and representatives from major chambers of commerce across the country, who submitted written recommendations. Discussions covered taxation, import and export regulations, and trade facilitation. The committee compiled these proposals for review by the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Revenue.
