Karachi, Chief Election Commissioner Sindh, Sharifullah, met with IG Sindh, Rifaat Mukhtar Raja, at the Central Police Office in Karachi to discuss the security arrangements and overall polling process for the upcoming general elections in 2024.
According to Sindh Police, IG Sindh Rifaat Mukhtar Raja briefed the Chief Election Commissioner on the comprehensive security plan being developed for the general elections. This plan includes ensuring the safety of candidates, voters, polling staff, and election materials such as ballot boxes and papers. Senior police officers are actively involved in devising a foolproof strategy for the election.
Raja explained that district police officers are taking necessary measures to implement the security plan, tailored to their respective areas’ needs and circumstances. The conversation aimed to align the election commission’s requirements with the capabilities and preparedness of the Sindh Police.
The Chief Election Commissioner expressed full confidence and satisfaction with the election security arrangement and its prioritization by IG Sindh and the Sindh Police. He assured the police of his utmost cooperation in ensuring a smooth and secure election process.
