Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Meets DP World Group Chairman in Davos

Davos, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar of Pakistan met with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Group Chairman and CEO of UAE-based multinational logistics company DP World, at the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The meeting focused on enhancing business cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE and expanding DP World’s business in Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the growing exchanges and interactions between Pakistani and UAE businesses. He emphasized the transformative potential of such cooperation and assured DP World of the Government of Pakistan’s continued support. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating partner enterprises in realizing the country’s geo-economic vision as a hub of commerce and industry.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister witnessed the signing of Inter-Governmental Framework Agreements between Pakistan’s Ministries of Communications, Railways, and Maritime Affairs and the Government of Dubai, represented by DP World. These agreements encompass a range of potential opportunities in Pakistan, including the development of a dedicated freight corridor, a multi-modal logistics park, and rail freight terminals on Pakistan’s railway network. Additionally, they cover the development of a coastal economic zone and dredging works of navigation channels at Port Qasim.

This development signifies a significant step in strengthening economic and industrial ties between Pakistan and the UAE, particularly in the fields of logistics and infrastructure development.
