ISLAMABAD: Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Tarik Ali Khan, met with Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate and Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Conference (ISC), to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, including parliamentary cooperation and trade linkages between Pakistan and Canada.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting in Islamabad focused on reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the two nations, with discussions emphasizing the importance of engaging in areas such as parliamentary diplomacy, economic cooperation, education, and cultural exchanges. Misbah Khar stressed the role of parliamentary cooperation in fostering democratic institutions and highlighted the need for enhanced interaction between parliamentary bodies of both countries.
The talks also addressed expanding trade and investment opportunities, noting the potential for growth through business-to-business engagement. Both sides recognized the importance of facilitating commercial partnerships in sectors like education, agriculture, and renewable energy.
The meeting underscored the significance of people-to-people contacts, acknowledging the role of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada. Misbah Khar appreciated the contributions of Pakistani-Canadians and called for promoting educational and cultural exchanges to strengthen ties.
The Canadian High Commissioner reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and stressed the importance of sustained dialogue in advancing shared interests. Both parties agreed to continue diplomatic engagement to enhance relations based on mutual respect and common aspirations.
