Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans of Pakistan’s Armed Forces on Defence and Martyrs Day. The leaders emphasized the unity and resilience of the nation in their messages commemorating September 6th, a day marked by Pakistan as a testament to its steadfast defense.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari highlighted the enduring unity and spirit of faith that the Armed Forces and the nation demonstrated during the conflict on September 6, 1965. He reiterated the need for international recognition of the Kashmir issue, advocating for its resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fortifying Pakistan’s security and sovereignty, while also promoting economic development and political stability. The Prime Minister’s message underscored the dual focus on defense and public welfare.

The Chiefs of the Armed Forces, including Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, alongside Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza, also paid homage to the armed forces’ martyrs and veterans. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated the fallen soldiers represent the highest ideals of honor, duty, and sacrifice. The armed forces remain vigilant in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests.
