District Peace Committee Convenes to Ensure Safe Muharram Observance in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The District Peace Committee, led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, convened a key meeting to discuss strategies for the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram and the promotion of inter-sect harmony.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the meeting brought together religious scholars, representatives from traders’ organizations, members of various schools of thought, and officials from relevant departments. The participants conducted a comprehensive review of security measures, traffic management, administrative plans, and preparations for religious gatherings and processions during the holy month.

The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining law and order, fostering religious tolerance, and adhering strictly to the established code of conduct throughout Muharram. It was collectively resolved that enhanced security, effective coordination, and close cooperation among all concerned parties would be prioritized to ensure a peaceful environment.

DIG Islamabad and the Deputy Commissioner assured that all available resources would be employed to safeguard citizens’ lives and property. They also urged public cooperation with law enforcement agencies to sustain peace and encourage religious harmony.

The session was also attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Security/Operations Suleman Zafar, Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Sahib Zada Yousaf, and other relevant officials.
