ISLAMABAD: In a concerted effort to bolster security and combat criminal activities, Islamabad Police have arrested 23 individuals on charges related to drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens in the federal capital.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation was conducted under the directive of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. During the operation, police teams detained 17 individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking and illegal arms possession. The authorities recovered substantial quantities of narcotics, including 1,633 grams of Ice, 613 grams of heroin, and 205 grams of hashish. Additionally, a rifle and seven pistols of various calibers, along with ammunition, were seized. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those arrested, and further investigations are underway.

In a parallel initiative targeting proclaimed offenders and those with existing criminal records, six wanted individuals were apprehended. Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, emphasized the police force’s commitment to safeguarding the community. He highlighted the “No to Weapon” campaign, which focuses on tackling illegal arms possession and use, including aerial firing.

Raza also underscored the importance of citizen cooperation, urging residents to report any suspicious activities to local police or via the Pucar-15 emergency helpline. This collaborative approach between law enforcement and the public is seen as vital to enhancing the safety and security of Islamabad.
