New York: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has raised concerns about the delayed operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund during a recent United Nations event. The Minister’s remarks were part of his address at the “Solutions Dialogue on Climate Finance” held in New York, where he called on the Green Climate Fund and other international organizations to simplify their procedures to make climate finance more accessible to vulnerable nations.
According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of establishing credible frameworks for adaptation and disaster response, as well as the development of early-warning systems and climate strategies. He highlighted the need for a pipeline of bankable projects to ensure climate resilience. The Finance Minister also noted that these efforts should be supported by maintaining domestic macroeconomic stability and securing adequate fiscal and external buffers, with international support serving to complement national resources.
