APHC Reaffirms Commitment to 1947 Accession Resolution Amid Continued Struggle in Kashmir

Srinagar: Leaders and organizations of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir emphasized the ongoing relevance of the July 19, 1947, resolution in which Kashmiri leadership chose to accede to Pakistan, a decision taken before the subcontinent was partitioned.

According to Kashmir Media Service announcement issued on 19 July 2024, the resolution was adopted during a meeting at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan in Srinagar, marking a pivotal moment in Kashmiri history by asserting their preference to join Pakistan over India.

The commitment to this resolution remains strong among APHC members and various groups, including incarcerated leaders Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani and Fayaz Hussain Jafari, who continue to advocate for Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan despite facing significant challenges. This resolution is celebrated as a foundational moment that clearly directed the Kashmiri movement towards integration with Pakistan, unequivocally excluding India from their future plans.

The leaders expressed that the Kashmiri people are pursuing a legitimate struggle for self-determination, enduring significant hardships under Indian rule. They believe the consistent and dedicated efforts of Kashmiris will lead to the eventual withdrawal of Indian forces and allow for self-governance as per their own will and long-standing aspirations.

The APHC called on the global community to recognize the severe implications of India’s actions in the region and to support a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict that respects the historical decisions and the current aspirations of the Kashmiri people, consistent with international norms and United Nations resolutions.
