Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly criticized India for violating the fundamental human rights of Kashmiris in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, stating that such actions have revealed the hollowness of India’s claim to being the world’s largest democracy. The APHC has described the region as the ‘world’s largest open-air jail.’
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Abdul Ahad, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Muhammad Saleem Zargar, Sibte Shabbir Qummi, and Maulana Musaib Nadvi have issued statements from Srinagar denouncing the situation. They have highlighted the ongoing suppression of the Kashmiri freedom movement by the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his administration’s increasing deployment of occupation troops in the region. Despite these challenges, the leaders emphasized that Kashmiris remain committed to their liberation cause.
The APHC leaders argue that the oppressive actions of the Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including the deployment of approximately one million soldiers, demonstrate India’s failure to maintain a democratic facade. They stressed that India’s military presence in the region is indicative of a lost war and does not change its status as an occupier in the eyes of the Kashmiri people.
The statements condemn the brutal tactics used by Indian army, paramilitary forces, police, State Investigation Agency, and National Investigation Agency during search operations and house raids. The leaders called these acts a form of state terrorism and urged the international community to end its silence on these issues.
The APHC’s statements bring attention to the severe human rights crisis in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and seek to garner global support to challenge India’s actions in the region. They emphasize the need for international intervention to address the ongoing violations and support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
