APHC-AJK Leader Condemns India’s Use of GPS Trackers for Surveillance in IIOJK

Islamabad, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, has strongly condemned the Indian authorities for employing GPS trackers to monitor the movements of political activists in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Rehmani’s statement in Islamabad criticized this new form of surveillance, particularly highlighting the case of 65-year-old Ghulam Muhammad Butt from Srinagar. Butt, who has been released on bail, has been forced to wear a GPS anklet for constant monitoring by Indian agencies.

Rehmani described this measure as a peak of vengeful surveillance against the people in occupied Kashmir. He called for international intervention, urging the United Nations and global human rights organizations to address the issue and prevent India from continuing such oppressive actions in IIOJK.

The use of such tracking devices on political activists represents a significant escalation in surveillance tactics and raises serious human rights concerns in the region.
