Islamabad: A condolence meeting was held at the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, where leaders gathered to express their grief over the recent losses within their community.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the meeting was chaired by Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, the Information Secretary of APHC-AJK. The leaders expressed their sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Arshad Sultan, a cousin of Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen, and the mother of Mohammad Khalil, who is recognized for his commitment to the freedom cause.
The participants of the meeting offered prayers for the deceased, seeking forgiveness for them and patience for their families. They conveyed their sympathies, stating their solidarity with the bereaved families in this time of mourning and prayed for the deceased’s eternal peace and mercy.
It was noted during the meeting that Sheikh Arshad Sultan’s brothers, Sheikh Gowher Sultan and Sheikh Tanveer Sultan, had been martyred by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), highlighting the ongoing tensions in the region.
The condolence meeting was attended by several prominent Hurriyat leaders, including Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, and others, underscoring the collective sense of loss and unity among the attendees.
