MUZAFFARABAD: The governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Pakistan emphasized their commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution of public grievances at a joint news conference held today. This announcement comes amid ongoing protests in the region, which have disrupted essential supplies.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Spokesperson of the Azad Kashmir Government, Guftar Hussain, and the Spokesperson of the AJK Police, Irfan Masood Kashfi, addressed the media in Muzaffarabad, highlighting the impact of a prolonged sit-in by a banned committee. The protest, now in its thirty-sixth day, has obstructed the flow of food, medicines, and other critical commodities to the Poonch Division.

The spokespersons affirmed the government’s constitutional and moral responsibility to restore access to blocked roads, ensuring the free movement of people and goods. They condemned actions inciting violence, damaging public property, and targeting law enforcement agencies.

On the subject of the upcoming elections in Azad Kashmir, the spokespersons assured that the general elections would proceed as scheduled, dismissing any speculation of delays. They called on the electorate to participate responsibly, urging them to reject inflammatory rhetoric and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and the rule of law in the region.
