Syria and Pakistan Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Cooperation

Islamabad: The Foreign Minister of the Syrian Arab Republic, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to discuss deepening bilateral relations between Syria and Pakistan, focusing on cooperation in politics, defense, trade, and education. The meeting highlighted the potential resumption of direct flights to boost exchanges and facilitate religious visits.

According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif expressed support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, reiterating Pakistan’s stance on the Golan Heights. He also conveyed well-wishes to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and emphasized the importance of transforming historical ties into concrete cooperation.

Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani shared updates on Syria’s political transition and reconstruction, thanking Pakistan for its support. He expressed interest in revitalizing bilateral engagement, including through institutional mechanisms. Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to President al-Sharaa for an official visit to Pakistan. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch.
