Istanbul, Türkiye: The Supreme Court of Pakistan participated in the Judicial Dispute Resolution Symposium in Istanbul on May 4-5, 2026, contributing to discussions on the enhancement of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) systems. The symposium was organized by the Commercial Law Development Program of the U.S. Department of Commerce alongside the Istanbul Arbitration Centre.
According to Press Information Department, the two-day event brought together senior judges, legal experts, and representatives from various judicial academies to discuss the judiciary’s role in promoting ADR. The main topics included the development of national ADR ecosystems, judicial support for arbitration and mediation, and aligning domestic practices with international legal standards.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, representing the Supreme Court of Pakistan, participated in sessions on court-annexed ADR models and the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. He spoke about Pakistan’s reforms to institutionalize ADR, aiming to reduce case backlogs and improve access to justice.
The symposium also included a roundtable for judicial training academies to discuss enhancing ADR curricula and fostering international collaboration among judicial bodies. The Supreme Court of Pakistan’s involvement underscores its commitment to engaging with the global judicial community to share and adopt best practices in dispute resolution and judicial reform.
