Beijing: The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing recently convened the 3rd Pakistan Professionals and Students Forum (PSPF) 2026, under the theme “STEM Connect: Innovation, Mentorship, and Collaboration.” The gathering on 6 May 2026 drew together Pakistani students, researchers, academics, and professionals from various regions across China to engage in networking, mentorship, and collaborative efforts within essential scientific and technological sectors.
According to Press Information Department, the Forum was organized around seven mentorship clusters focused on STEM disciplines, including electrical and control systems, chemical and materials sciences, artificial intelligence and computer science, biological and agricultural sciences, civil, environmental and safety engineering, earth sciences, and mechanical, aerospace and energy disciplines. These clusters facilitated discussions on academic advancement, research partnerships, career trajectories, and emerging prospects in Pakistan-China cooperation.
Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, addressed the participants, emphasizing the Embassy’s ongoing initiatives to forge meaningful connections among Pakistani students and professionals throughout China. He asserted that the Forum aligns with the Embassy’s wider objectives of human capital development, innovation, and skill-based partnerships between the two nations.
The ambassador also discussed the significance of aligning educational and professional development with the evolving demands of industries. He announced the Embassy’s active promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through targeted engagements in sectors such as agriculture and ICT and telecommunications. Upcoming events include an ICT-focused symposium and a B2B Investment Conference on ICT.
Ambassador Hashmi highlighted the tangible outcomes of previous initiatives, such as a job fair that facilitated employment for Pakistani students with Chinese enterprises. He unveiled plans for an AI-based matchmaking platform to connect Pakistani students with Chinese enterprises for internships and employment.
The event marked the official start of STEM mentorship clusters aimed at fostering ongoing mentor-mentee engagement. The Embassy expressed appreciation to participating students, professionals, and mentors, specifically acknowledging the contributions of Dr. Shamas Toor and Dr. Majid Khan. The Embassy reiterated its dedication to supporting future engagement platforms for the Pakistani community in China.
