Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi emphasized the significant role of literature in fostering national unity and strengthening the bond between citizens and the Armed Forces of Pakistan. Speaking at a seminar organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters to commemorate the one-year success of Marka-e-Haq, he highlighted the collective patriotism and unity demonstrated by the nation.
According to Press Information Department, Khichi addressed the misperceptions created by certain elements about the unity between the nation and the Armed Forces, asserting that Marka-e-Haq has proven the strength of this relationship. The seminar, titled “The Role of Literature in Achieving National Objectives,” provided a platform for discussing how literature can promote patriotism and the national narrative.
The event also focused on the restoration and improvement of cultural heritage sites, such as Mazar-e-Iqbal and Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s residence in Sialkot, under the Ministry’s administration. The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving Pakistan’s literary and intellectual heritage and called for further guidance on the building associated with Allama Iqbal in Germany.
Other speakers, including Izhar ul Haq and Dr. Najeeba Arif, underscored the evolving role of literature in modern warfare and the importance of building a strong national narrative. Renowned scholars discussed the impact of literature on societal ethics and tolerance, and urged for measures to make books more affordable and accessible.
Proposals for preserving cultural heritage sites and promoting literature through modern platforms were also presented. The seminar concluded with prize distributions by Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi to students participating in a poetry competition.
