Lucknow, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has brought forward a grim statistic, alleging that nearly 100,000 farmers have committed suicide during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) tenure in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Yadav claimed that the farmers’ plea for a guaranteed minimum support price (MSP) is justified and critical for the agriculture sector, which he described as the economy’s backbone. He argued that the well-being of farmers is directly tied to the nation’s economic health and insisted on the need for legal assurance to implement the MSP effectively.
Highlighting the forthcoming general elections, Yadav emphasized their significance for the country’s democracy and constitution. He positioned the BJP as a threat that must be eliminated to preserve these institutions. Yadav drew historical parallels by comparing the BJP’s tenure to that of Hitler’s, suggesting that just as Hitler’s reign ended after a decade, it is time for Prime Minister Modi to depart from office after completing ten years.
The statement from the Samajwadi Party leader reflects a potent critique of the current government’s policies, shedding light on the distress within the agricultural community and underlining the political undercurrents ahead of the elections in India.
