Punjab Police on High Alert for Christian Prayer Services Across Province

Lahore: Officers and personnel of the Punjab Police maintained a heightened state of alertness during Christian prayer services held at churches throughout Lahore and the wider province.

According to Punjab Police, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had earlier issued directives to various police officials, including Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and senior officers, to bolster security measures at church premises. These instructions mandated supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements at churches as well as important and sensitive locations. Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, and teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force were tasked with ensuring effective patrolling in the vicinity of churches.

IG Punjab emphasized that deployed officers and personnel should remain vigilant and keep a close watch for any potential threats. The directives included the continuation of search and sweep operations around churches, Christian communities, and other sensitive locations. Abdul Kareem also highlighted the importance of promoting interfaith harmony, urging religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committee members to contribute to this effort.
