Lahore: Punjab Police have intensified their operations against violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act, leading to significant arrests and recoveries across the province. According to a press release from Punjab Police, more than 10,000 individuals have been arrested and 9,724 cases have been registered this year, highlighting the department’s ongoing efforts to curb this illegal activity.
The operations, conducted under the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, have resulted in the recovery of 479,598 kites and 15,518 string reels. In Lahore alone, police reported the arrest of 4,769 individuals and the registration of 4,589 cases, with 126,488 kites and 5,168 string reels seized.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem has emphasized that kite flying will not be tolerated in the province, advocating for strict legal action against those involved. He has also called for action against the sale and trade of metallic strings and kites online, urging parents to prevent their children from participating in kite flying and encouraging citizens to report violations by calling emergency services.
