Punjab Police Conducts Sweeping Raids in Crackdown on Drug Trade

Lahore: In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking, Punjab Police carried out 1,428 raids over the past week, targeting drug dealers across the province. This large-scale operation, directed by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, resulted in the arrest of 780 individuals and the registration of numerous cases against them.

During these operations, law enforcement officials confiscated 335 kilograms of charas, 38 kilograms of crystal meth, 37 kilograms of heroin, and 33,619 liters of liquor and other narcotics from the suspects.

Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered the continuation of these operations, emphasizing the need to dismantle the drug supply network. He has called for special attention to intelligence-based operations near educational institutions and hostels, aiming to curb the influence of drug activity in these areas.

The directive also includes a focus on apprehending individuals involved in online drug trading, as part of the broader initiative to establish a drug-free Punjab.
