Lahore: Under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police has made significant strides in their ongoing mission to eradicate serious crimes across the province. In a sweeping crackdown this year, the force has dismantled 4,646 criminal gangs, arrested 11,636 offenders, and recovered stolen properties valued at Rs. 7.61 billion.
According to Punjab Police, the comprehensive operation has spanned all districts, including a focused effort in Lahore where 2,628 gangs were busted, leading to the arrest of 6,033 criminals. The items recovered in these operations include 1,303 vehicles, 19,431 motorcycles, 1,957 tolas of gold, 7,978 mobile phones, and 3,241 livestock, all of which have been returned to their rightful owners. Additionally, more than Rs. 4.79 billion in cash was retrieved from criminals involved in various offenses.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has commended the police teams for their excellent performance in targeting these dangerous gangs. He has directed that efforts be intensified to completely eradicate organized crime in the region. Dr. Anwar emphasized the importance of bringing professional criminals involved in serious offenses such as robbery, murder, and abduction to justice. He also instructed the police to focus on eliminating crime in hotspot areas through effective planning and targeted operations, utilizing all available resources to protect the lives and properties of citizens.
