Lahore: Punjab Police have intensified their crackdown on kite flying across the province, arresting 8,659 individuals and registering 8,348 cases for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act this year. The operation, led by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, has resulted in the recovery of hundreds of thousands of kites and string reels.
According to Punjab Police, the operation has been particularly active in Lahore, where 3,810 people were arrested and 3,663 cases were filed. The recovered items in the provincial capital include 111,971 kites and 4,159 string reels. The police are following a zero-tolerance policy against the sale and use of metallic strings and kites, with clear directives from IG Punjab to eradicate this dangerous activity throughout the province.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem emphasized the importance of public cooperation in this effort. He urged parents to keep their children away from kite flying and encouraged citizens to report any such activities by calling the emergency number. This crackdown is part of a broader initiative to ensure public safety and compliance with the Anti-Kite Flying Act.
