Haryana: At a recent political rally in Haryana, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi vocally criticized the BJP government for what she described as a betrayal of the nation’s wrestlers, farmers, and soldiers. She accused the government of forcing these groups to combat policies that undermine their professions and rights.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during her campaign stops in Haryana, Gandhi supported wrestler-turned-Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat and her loyalist Pardeep Narwal. She brought attention to Vinesh Phogat’s plight, a wrestler who despite reaching the Olympic finals, was denied a medal—a situation Gandhi linked to Phogat’s outspoken stance against injustice.
Gandhi praised the cultural spirit of Haryana, which she noted has historically stood against injustice, referencing the legendary battles of Kurukshetra. She articulated that this legacy should inspire current resistance against governmental policies perceived as unfair.
Throughout her speeches, Gandhi broadened her critique to encompass a range of sectors, asserting that the government’s actions have adversely affected not only athletes but also farmers, soldiers, youth, and women. Specifically, she targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agricultural reforms, which she claimed disproportionately favor large corporate entities at the expense of smaller farmers.
