Privatisation Commission Engages ADB for Islamabad Airport Operations Outsourcing


Islamabad: The Privatisation Commission has appointed the Asian Development Bank as the financial adviser for the outsourcing of operations at Islamabad International Airport. The decision was made during the commission’s 255th meeting, chaired by Muhammad Ali, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve passenger experience.



According to Privatisation Commission, the board approved the signing of a Transaction Advisory Services Agreement with the Asian Development Bank after reviewing the terms of the negotiated agreement. The commission expressed confidence in the bank’s ability to manage the outsourcing process efficiently and transparently. The outsourcing will involve a long-term concession framework and a competitive bidding process to select a qualified private sector operator. The privatisation initiative is expected to bring the airport’s services in line with international standards.



In addition, the Privatisation Commission Board approved the appointment of BDO Ebrahim & Company, Chartered Accountants, as external auditors for the financial years from 2025-26 to 2027-28, following the recommendation of the Audit Committee of the Board. The board emphasized its commitment to maintaining transparency and high standards to bolster investor confidence in the government’s privatisation efforts.
