ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared the development of Gilgit-Baltistan a top priority for the federal government, emphasizing various sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and education as focal points to enhance the region’s growth.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif addressed members of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly affiliated with the PML-N in Islamabad, highlighting the government’s commitment to leveraging the region’s natural resources, tourist attractions, and mineral reserves to bolster the local economy. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of providing quality education and modern technical training to the youth, with four Danish Schools in the final stages of construction, set to commence classes next year.
The Prime Minister also noted the progress on a 100-megawatt solar power generation project in Gilgit-Baltistan, stressing the federal government’s efforts to ensure the timely completion of ongoing development initiatives. Additionally, he directed the formation of a committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, to review practical proposals from the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly members and submit a comprehensive report.
